About us

Who Are We?

Here at The Work Ladder, we are experienced business professionals who want to help the next generation take those all-important first steps on the career ladder.

Because we have first-hand experience of employing new recruits to the workplace, we understand both the difficulties facing students when it comes to starting out in the workplace and the frustrations of employers looking for work-ready recruits.

We understand what matters to employers and we want to make sure young people understand that too.

What Do We Do?

We advise and coach young people in practical business matters and key employability skills so that they are better prepared to enter the world of work.

Good exam results are important but they are not what land you that great job. Increasingly, employers are looking for the right attitude, practical skills and experience that will help you do the job well, as well as an appreciation of what business is really about.

We can help you understand what employers are looking for and how to gain useful skills and experience before you embark on your chosen career. We can also help you to present yourself in the best possible light to prospective employers, so that you make a positive impression from day one.

In the early years of your career, we are here to lend a guiding hand on how to make the most of opportunities in the workplace and deal with everyday business challenges.

When Should You Start?

We believe in starting early. There are lots of things you can start doing at school that will help when it comes to applying for a job later. And you cannot wait until your last year at University before starting to think seriously about what employers are looking for.

Who Do We Work With?

We help students and recent graduates on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to build the main employability skills they will need to land that great job.

We work with schools, colleges and universities across a variety of areas designed to provide practical insights into the world of work and to prepare young people to hit the ground running when they start looking for that first job.

We also work with employers in introducing young people and recent graduates to the workplace by coaching them in key workplace skills.
